Tonight I went to the village and had my mind BLOWN!!!!
First I had the most amazing cheesecake of my life Roccos pastery shop then to the Village Vangaurd. I saw the most swingin big band (the Vangaurd Band)!
I got to meet Louis Bonia, Douglas Purviance, Frank Basile, Tanya Darby, and the guy who wrote the book on drums (literally) John Riley!
They played alot of Thad jones charts and played them well cause Jerry Dodgion was sitting in on lead alto making at least three members of the original Thad Jones – Mel Lewis orchestra.
